- Lots of LIP SERVICE...
-
For what it's worth - this anti-spyware law is nothing more than a lot of feelgood lip service.
THINK about it people.
Why?
The proposed law - it stops at the our borders. The Internet does not. It's a GLOBAL entity. Ok. So you shut down the spyware guys here in the US. There's still the problem of spyware authors/vendors in the other 190 odd countries that occupy the rest of the planet. Are we going to be sending the FBI globetrotting to nail some schmuck in BFE? Or are we just going to cut to the chase and have CIA sponsored assassins roaming the planet, cappin' the spyware authors? (NOT that they don't deserve it...) Maybe we can reserve the assassin squad for nailing those perps where we have no extradition treaty...?
We complain that we're becoming the world's police force. And yet, that pretty much is what this law is going to wind up doing more of...
With all the offshored talent beyond our borders, this kind of law is long on feel good politics, but is short on teeth. Not much of a solution. - Posted by: Wolfie2K3 Posted on: 03/16/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
