Understanding Diverse WorkForce
Klumper, I am being fed. But I am also from the West Coast of the United States where folks know that Humboldt was more famous in the US in his time than Einstein in his and more loved. His observations regarding the Mexican American war being more about extending the slave economy are directly related to the baggage associated with almost all those who grew up on the east coast.

Do you realize that fewer than 30 percent of US citizens have passports? They are in effect wage slave prisoners in this country. If you pretend that notions of slavery commonly accepted just over 100 years ago have vanished from our country then you need to visit Katrina damage sites in Louisiana, ponder how Jefferson loved Humboldt but Humboldt hated the fact that Jefferson owned slaves, and then read Humboldtian books and the Cosmos'. I haven't done that myself. Lets take the journey together. But lets not think that the greatest world economy of all time (the time of the pirates) wasn't based on slave labor or that the rich and powerful do not think the same now as they did then.

We should value diversity in the work force because of the different ways of thinking and contributing to problem solving and not because the H1-B isn't knowledgeable of proper and legal ways to conduct business, or if knowledgeable is afraid of deportation so will not speak out as a citizen.

FYI - I helped Microsoft on more than one occasion qualify H1-Bs for work by documenting that educational experience they brought in country was roughly equivalent to a degree from a US accredited college. Only today I believe that was not the case. Equivalence has to include study on US culture, citizenship, the emerging ethics of our day.

Heady topic but oh so relevant to our industry. Any one have other thoughts?
