This is one time when...
I think a merger would be good for consumers.

The current split of proprietary channels between the two is what prevents me from purchasing it at all. Everyone loses.

Even merged, they still have competition with broadcast radio and broadcast HD radio.

Congress needs to think outside the box on this one, though I'm not sure they are capable of really understanding what is and isn't good for consumers these days. Maybe the last election fixed that. Who knows...
