I think there is great potential
I like Revver videos. They are cool in allowing users to keep copies of the videos they watch - if they want to. (These videos are not encumbered by the dreaded ?D? term [DRM].) Also if the videos become virally distributed, the embedded ads at the end of the videos can still be clicked on by viewers of the video, so as to produce ad revenue. I believe many Revver video sites should include premium services, which could include users gaining access to DVD or HD-DVD quality clips. A service could automatically push these clips onto users? computers / home servers, so that they can be seen in Windows media center, and in other viewers.

I believe companies (e.g. Windows Live and AOL) that might aggregate RSS feeds for videos, could provide special software (RIAs) that allow users to wade through RSS feeds, and subscribe to some shows, while also manually selecting other shows to be download in queues.

The above would put small video outfits on par with traditional media, and would be a significant step in making traditional media and their DRM baggage obsolete.

One other thing: I don?t believe ads placed at the front or at the end of media should be more that 15 seconds long. Once you go beyond 15 seconds, users generally become resentful of the ads, and the ads become worthless.
