Yeah perhaps but in the end so?
It's in the law's hands to protect us against crimes not to protect us
from embarassement due to the risks of being free and doing silly
things. Perhaps on their own these two would have grown up or
gained experence and things might have happened to the pics that
made one or the other uncomfortable or shamed but then again
maybe not. Perhaps if left alone these two would have documented
and carried a few pleasant memories of a time gone by? None of us
know and can only assume what does the law have to do with this.
The law in fact made a nothing into a something and perhaps their
actions ie the law harmed the kids far more than the act, the
documentation and the transfer of pics from one compouter to
another. The law making a fuss seemed to be the only harmful factor
in this story.

It's sort of like all those so called "experts" who claim that the young
man is terribly harmed by scorring the hot teacher. Yeah I can see
the harm. Can't pry the smile of his face. A terribly blistered hand
from all the high fives in the school hallways and the constant assault
of "You Da Man" rining in his ears. Plus putting up with the natural
curiosity of the gals in school who wonder what he's got going for
him. Poor lads....
