The thing is, they are pirating music now as we speak. Said Jobs that only about 2% of songs from an iPod are legally acquired. 2% - incredible. So in the end you don't know. It's probably worth a try anyway, let 5% of real music be available without DRM, see what happens.
BTW, it would be right that if I own say a Beatles CD I can get all tunes of it for free as mp3. But I guess that would be extremely hard to do, except if I give back my CD.
