Ranting and zelotry aside, this is a smart move.
So we see the usual rantings about how this is "evil" and there are no IP issues, and WalMart is stupid, yada, yada, yada...

But in the end it seems to come down to the fact that Linux is Linux regardless of it being Red Flat or Novell so you may as well go with the one that is guaranteed "safe". What's to lose? Nothing because the Linux community did a wonderful job of making it a generic commodity.

Yes, I know. It goes against the open source gawds to have MS so deeply involved (and in control) but from what I see it, no one is asking the gawds what they think.

And finally, this is the beginning of the end for Red Flat. Don't believe it? Just keep watching... (Well, I suppose they too can cut a deal with MS, if they have the courage.)
