Well, that explains the Chinese made "Made in USA" labels, doesn't it?
Most of the US manufacturing base has moved to where costs are lower (China, India, South America, Mexico, etc.). Software is no different, except that software is a global business and players like Microsoft, Google, IBM, WalMart, (etc.) now have outposts in these countries. Since there are people there with doctorates (jus t as there are in the US) and the yearly cost to keep them is lower in other countries, companies either export the executives to these countries (lowers cost) or hires executives in those countries. This allows them to remain competitive.

So in effect, what you said with: US manufactures went through this almost 2 decades ago and finally smartened up. would them mean that they are moving people over there (or hiring them local to the region. But if you have not adapted and grown over the last 2 decades, this is just a sad commentary on the person posting.

As per The general rule of thumb now is don't hire them for any "sensitive" work or position where they can walk out with the companies crown jewels. Perhaps Microsoft knows something you don't, as they are one of the largest (the, actually) software houses on the planet. Maybe you should start taking some notes from them rather than trying to relive something from the 1980's.
