"Clips from TV shows such as NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and other copyright material are to a certain extent responsible for YouTube's popularity, Luckett asserts."

That is such an understatement. I think copyrighted material is at least 50% responsible for Youtube's success. Before people would rely on other means to watch them, namely, file trading the video files or someone server small clips off their own sites. Youtube made it possible to thousands of people to watch a certain clip without that much trouble, not to mention it's probably faster then locating and downloading something.

In addition, people from all over the world added their own country's countents. Those anime fanboys can watch their Japanese animes. People who like euro music can watch the music vidoe on it... etc.

Sure those home made clips are funny, sometimes, but out of 10000 home made clips, how many are actually ones that you watch over and over and over again?

On the day that Youtube starts taking vids off their site, I said to myself, "that's the beginning of the end". Then it begins and you start seeing more and more "this content has been removed due to copyright owner's request." Then one day, I said to myself, "This sucks. I can never find the clips I want and it's always a dead link." and just stoped using it altogether.

I haven't used Youtube for at least a month now, and it's gonna happen to you.

Show's over folks!(pun intented) Youtube will remaind a big player in this business, but I predict it'll start seeing slipping numbers of viewers, then slide into the back rows where no one really cares.
