Should read "Most teens THINK their profiles are private"
It is my experience working with teenagers in youth groups that this research study is seriously flawed if these are in fact their findings.

In my experience, teens are woefully clueless or, worse, indifferent about the privacy of their online profiles. Most teens I know have profiles that are open to the public and blog intimate details of their private (and often sexual) lives under the ILLUSION that only a few close friends are reading when this is flatly not so in many cases.

This research report is dangerous in that it could give parents a false sense of security about their children's online lives. In reality, the things mom used to scribble in a little diary and shove under her mattress or in the back of a closet so no one could see, her kids are now posting on the Web for all the world to read.
