- I download 100 copyrighted files in the last 60 seconds...

I did it just flipping through a few pages on the ZDnet site, including this page. In essence, that's how surfing the Web works, downloading files for display on your PC.
Just about everything is copyrighted, including this note, which will be owned by ZD once I finish typing it into their website. Just because they WANT it to be published, freely accessed, and downloaded doesn't diminish their copyright.
The difference is that some copyright owners don't want their work to be published, freely accessed, and downloaded. It's their right, and we have to respect that. That DOES NOT mean we have to like it, or pay for it if we don't want it.
