More like the other way around.

“Opera will implement Firefox features.”

No, Firefox / Mozilla has been implementing Opera features, and has been doing so all along. Tabs? Opera had them many versions before Mozilla / Netscape 6 even existed. CSS2? Opera was here first. Session saving (built-in, not an Extension)? Opera was first. Mouse gestures? Ditto. And so on, and so on, and so on.

About the only thing I can think of that Mozilla beat Opera to market on is Extensions (Opera calls them “Widgets” and I think they came out in Version 9). Though, Opera without Widgets will do most of what Firefox 1.x plus the most popular Extensions will do, and pretty much all of what Firefox 2 without Extensions will do.

Opera is also way faster (the fastest graphical browser available for most OSes), much more efficient (in terms of memory usage — let’s face it: Firefox is a memory hog, and Firefox 2 actually made this worse!), more stable (I have yet to see Opera 9.02 crash, while Firefox 1.5.0.8 and 2.0+ does so often), has less malware (there have been zero-day malwares for Firefox, but to the best of my knowledge no malwares, zero-day or otherwise, have specifically targeted Opera, though some OS vulnerabilities that would affect other browsers as well may have affected Opera), is safer (not only malware but other vulnerabilities such as those that enable malicious phishing sites are much fewer on Opera), etc.
