FireFox is a simple download. It will be quite reasonable to require a
FireFox download for some advanced features.

You can bet that Google will have some killer applications ready that use FireFox 3 features. How about a Google Earth that runs in FireFox 3, so to make Google Earth work, you download FireFox 3, instead of downloading a separate application.

One download of FireFox 3 is a lot simpler than multiple downloads of individual applications for which there must be a different version for each OS.

Yes, Microsoft wants to keep your life complicated so that you are stuck downloading lots of applications, and keep their gravy train a runnin', but the average user does not care.
