I say for every variation of Web X.0
We use name it like the various distributions of Linux or incarnations or whatever.

Since Linux has like 100s or 1000s of distributions I think that the Web could have a similiar number.

How about adding up which sites are the most cutting edge and base the number on which distribution of Linux or Windows they use. This would be the best way, that way whoever wins could have their preferred distribution right out there in the forefront.

For example if Google uses Ubuntu then they get a "+1", and so on...

So we might have a Web Fedora, or Web Debian, or Web Ubuntu, or Web Windows, or Web...whatever.

The fact is that adding some element of versioning just means that your locked into your little perceived thinking box. The web is a continuum of nothing to everything and where we are along that continuum doesn't really matter, only that fundamentally we realize a better world as a result of our efforts.

If people look back and say "look at the problems they created" or "look at they problems they solved" then the overall benefit should be positive...that's it.
