It is called live and let live or live and let die. Don't mess with the gene pool. When they infringe on others then they go to rehab. Otherwise let them harm themselves.

Not for the family, but that is their problem. Restricting it for the majority that have no problem is restricting their freedom. Why should they pay?

That is why your solution to prohibit or temperance of the gambler should not happen. Experience is the best teacher. If they never learn from experience, they were doomed from the beginning.

It is better to let those destroy themselves than to destroy society's freedom in an attempt to make it safe for all. We are suppose to be creatures of free will and responsibility. You can help others volunteerly, but it cannot be made mandatory to help others or have freedoms restricted. Education not prohibition.
