Got to have a balance somewhere.
Then there's the other end - no regulations at all leads to harm also. These issues affect families and society. IMHO, a balance has to be struck somewhere.

No, seriously, making accusations of coldheartedness, pointing fingers, and coming up with personal theories about why the government does stuff won't fix anything. Perhaps you should invest some time trying to fix problems rather than whining about them. Hint: Dust off Microsoft Word and your printer and write your congressmen and perhaps even the president. Yeah, some hired peon will probably read it, but at least your voice got heard somehwhere, and if you came up with a decent solution, you might even get their attention. And while you're at it, vote for somebody you think has the best chance of solving our problems.

OK, now can you come up with a solution? Will your solution address the concerns of addiction? How will your solution benefit our nation?
