That's just not accurate
Most average Joe's, that I know anyway, don't have much data to worry about. And those that do with family photos etc are not dumb. They buy 150.00 500GB USB drive to backup photos etc.
This is a fairly rural area, as is much of the United States. There are not widespread internet outages, but there are frequent enough local ISP problems to not want to deal with that. Plus it's just doesn't make any sense when disc, memory sticks, PCs with dual drives etc etc are all mainstream units now. The web is simply too insecure. It's open for terrorist attack for one, and after 9/11 I don't think you can call that fear irrational. Maybe when a software company like MS starts to offer real value on the NET, we will see the paradigm shift start to happen. But Google has no history of anything but a search engine that annoys you with ads.
Go ahead and be cutting edge. Nobody is going to stop you but I would rather be cautious. Do you buy the first release of an OS? I'm sure you are one that says you will hold out until SP3 or something. What does Google have that is of any interest to business at this point? That's not in perpetual beta anyway.
