If things are as dire as you predict, NOBODY can be trusted, you can always do it better yourself. Right this very minute, you are trusting the bank to keep you account data backed up and correct, with computers online, that is a BIG mistake on your part. Also, do NOT trust contractors, you MUST build you own house, fix your own car. For that matter, do NOT trust the people making cars, you should even design you own car. Again, as you said, NO businesses will ever be trustworthy.
