Unions, how much more communist can you get
I'm no fan of Unions.

Unions negotiate for the whole. That means you get nice middle wage for everyone. So the uneducated, low skill workers make the same as the skilled educated workers. That's a simplified view but it's is true. It's basically a communist idea where you take the whole payroll and divide it out equally amoung those in the Union.

In Union jobs a low skill job gets paid abour 120% above market value. That pay has to come from some where so the high skilled workers make about 40% less than market value. I'm sure you can see the problems.

Now Labour Unions work for certain jobs where everyone has the same skill like skilled trades. If you are an electrician and there are 100 electricians working for a company by all means negotiate a collective contract. As you are all doing the same work with the same skill set this makes sense.
