- Of COURSE they don't 'censor' the Internet
-
In order to 'censor' a media outlet, you first have to allow it to publish something. The People's Republic of China - as opposed to the Republic of China, which is a totally separate, independent state currently existing on the island of Taiwan, or Formosa - is committed to total control of ALL information flowing into it's borders. Without control, the warlords in the PLA and the Mandarins in Beijing are terrified that the general populace of the more educated, liberalized areas of their country WILL take their government out of the hands of the BARBARIANS who currently own it.
Yes, it's true; the PRC is trying to make the DPRK (North Korea) drop their insistance upon nuclear armaments. But that is not because the Chinese wishes further friendly relations with the civilized world; it's because North Korea is about 5 steps away from starting World War III, with terrifying results for the ENTIRE world! Beijing does NOT want to conquer a desolated rubble, any more than Moscow wanted to do so when THEY were the 'Big Enemy' of the West - y'know, before they joined the civilized world.
And YES, Beijing, I AM saying that you are barbaric. Your Human Rights violations are classic and numerous.
So WHY should we be surprised that Beijing is feeding the UN such BS about censorship? The Big Lie is a well-known tool in any dictatorship's arsenal. And DON'T call the regime in Beijing Communist; that's like calling the UK a monarchist state, when the Royals are reduced to a figurehead, and the PM and the Commons run the country. Or try to, anyway. Communism is a dead issue pretty much everywhere, because people everywhere have figured out that it just doesn't work. No big deal.
Of course, Beijing doesn't censor the Internet. Right. And my tongue hurts from biting it. - Posted by: jkratzer3 Posted on: 11/01/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
