Ahem- now that's ridiculous Predrag...

One final thought that I do take issue with is your dismissal of Rapsom's argument out of hand. In fact lobbying is the single worst factor of America's political system, but the word is out. Everyone hates them, they're the whipping dog of the hour. Americans, especially us plebes, are getting fed up and cracking down. Just look at the current Jack Abramoff scandall.
To contend however, that the system employed by the U.S. makes the governemtn more responsible for the actions of its major corporations and weapons contractors than its socialist euro-counterparts is ludacris. (I don't mean socialist like its a bad thing, just as an defining adjective). All systems of power breed corruption, the systems employed in many european countries consolidate more power over the psuedo-private sector in the hands of its politicians and leaders than do the States.

All this is in theory of course, but look at Russia and Italy. Their presidents are actually in control of each country's largest industry, oil/gas for russia and communications in italy.

You're telling me a lobbyist offering a golf trip so his employers can make billions of $$ is more enticing to a politician than making billions of $$ himself?

I would say, the politician who stands to make billions himself would be more inclined to break the rules. But who am I to say....
