What happened, No_Ax?
Usually, your posts are factual and knowledgable; here, you seem to be throwing out baseless opinion that takes 17 seconds of Googling to refute! Why?

1. There were 35 peace keeping missions in the history of the UN; of those 16 are still running. The following were successful in preventing further conflict (not even conservatives in US would argue this):
UNFICYP (Cyprus - between Greeks and Turks)
UNPROFOR (Between Croatians and Serbs)
UNMEE (Ethiopians and Erritreans)
UNAMET (East Timor - brought about independence for the occupied land)

Many others were instrumental in bringing about peace agreements between warring parties.

2. Of the 172 peace settlements UN helped negotiate, 157 are still holding. That ain't all that bad... (definitely not all fell apart a few months later);

3. Had there not been UN in places like Namibia, Cambodia, Angola or South Africa, there would have never been free and fair elections. Another fact not disputed even by most conservative anti-UN zealots of the world.

Blah, blah, blah... same results, year after year; no longer they get the Nobel Prize for peace...
