Federated Search
Read up on Federated Search technology. It allows you to combine several search engines in a way not unlike dogpile.com (a meta search engine). Be aware that wrong doers have long tried to hide their doings by purchasing content. The best example of this is Bill Gates who purchased an encyclopedia that described him correctly as a robber baron. Later editions describe him as a philathropist. Owner society. Argh.

The form of oversight that Wikipedia provides, and archive.com as well, is an audit trail. An accountant would never shred the paper trail that leads to the final financial reports and neither should authors and bloggers shred electronic trails. Think how much better society would be if lawyers were required to keep a trail of the stories they decide to support.

Unfortunately, editors can be influence peddled just as accountants can. Lawyers are good at threatening editors when the work in progress or final work doesn't support the lawyers story. This is true even in states where threatning legal action is itself not legal. They are even active in writing and having experts write garbage that supports the favored story.

Fortunately, it is no big deal to maintain the audit trail of any report or article and very interestingly there need not be any credibility attributed the sources. The work in progress either starts shining truth or burns up in flame. Wikipedia is so much better than it was a month or two ago. And it can only get better with time because the theories, wild as they might appear innitially, either are shown over time to be incorrect or survive. It is the scientific method. The rise of democracy.
