Forrester Research Pt. II
Now that Google has paid $1.65 billion for YouTube I wonder if Forrester will trumpet their mea culpa as loudly as they did YouTube's much-anticipated "demise."

This is why Forrester is best read by C-level execs that don't require insight and prefer their analysis to be of the knee-jerk variety.

And while we're on the topic of ivory tower execs that don't recognize a good value proposition, what's up with HDNet's Mark Cuban? With a subscriber base of four million after five years in business, is this a simple matter of "whose is bigger?"

In such a contest Mark Cuban lost the battle basically before it began. With 34 million monthly visitors after only 19 months, YouTube has HDNet (as well as his luck-o-the-draw former Broadcast.com) beaten soundly.

It's astonishing what you can accomplish with a strong business model. And YouTube was able to do this without the Internet bubble that artificially inflated Broadcast.com's value.

Congrats to YouTube and to Google. It's nice to chalk up a win in the Good Guy column.
