It's the researcher that has to evaluate the sources
I'm sure librarians have some tricks of the trade but they can't
understand and evaluate everything in every field. I think what
you're mainly going to get from the librarians are well defined
searches through databases (digital, fiber, and stone based) of
academic and scientific references. Librarians will have a larger tool
kit of search engines and some expertise in helping the researcher
to define their search.
