I Support Hunting Pedofiles; but 'selling' data to lawyers?
The DPS/DMV sells your personal information for a fee to businesses who target specific demographics. The big 3 credit bureaus maintain information on and sell your credit worthiness to corporations. Consumer Data Aggregate corporations purchase public records en masse and resell this data to anyone with a buck. Your most private data is for sale to the highest bidder. Check out the Consumer Reports investigation on this. ~ My Point is this. While pedofiles should be sternly dealt with, it is not enough of an excuse to force feed your most personal consumer data to the feds. Once the data is collected it will be available to any corporation with a loophole. There have never been any rock solid controls put into place to keep your information private; these data aggregate corporations own the machine that will process your data. Citizens have never succeeded at anything by trusting big business or big government. I'm not saying that we live in a kleptocracy, but we are a nation of corporations and it can be said with a straight face that the only true first class citizen left in America is the corporate entity. Ask yourself this: Does your vote count more than Abramhoff's coercive promise? Is your voice heard over the chorous of 30,000 lobbyists in Washington? Next, think through the question: Who stands to benefit by forcing every internet service provider, social networking site and search company to report your activity? Seems kind of Orwellian to me. Gattica anyone? 1984? Bueller?
