Add in some IP spoofing, you could be framed..
IP spoofing occurs all the time.

I recently discovered that my Web server was being used in a distributed DOS attack on E-gold. The only reason I discovered it, was that the attack was crashing my DSL modem (which also has a firewall) every couple of days.

P.S. This attack can be used with ANY tcp based service. Email, ftp, ntp, nntp, nnrp, etc..
(They don't care if the target doesn't send a syn-ack back. It's the flood of traffic which DOS's the targeted victim.)

I slapped an IP filter on e-gold's IP addresses. But, unless an ISP is monitoring content for state and port information, that proxy traffic would be enough to flag me as a user of E-gold.

In a nutshell.. a simple IP tracking system can be easily manipulated to falsely accuse any internet user of a serious crime. Next up, congresses solution to the described problem, capture all the IP traffic and save it for two(2) years, then ten(10) years, Orwell here we come.
