I agree with every bit of what you just said. Thanks for saying it.

I work on projects that are very heavy in AJAX and all the other "2.0" crap. It's not that amazing. It's just a new way of throwing together old crap. It's still just Javascript and HTML. Don't get me wrong, it's great stuff. But it's not even near the scale of what the 90s brought. There were so many great changes (speeds: from slower than 2.4kbps to well over 8mbps, protocols, devices, connectivity, etc) that happened that actually changed our lives. This "Web 2.0" bologna is hip and cool, but it's not going to do what throwing away our dialup modems did. Or having always-on mobile Internet devices (Treo, laptop GSM/CDMA wireless cards, etc) with us. Hell, the telephone has gone through more revolutionary changes than "Web 2.0" really deserves.

It's just cool, not amazing.
