IBM lost PC the same way
Personal Computer was actually an IBM trademark, but because of the mass acceptence of clones, they lost control of that trademark.

The same was about to be said for Kodak and the camera business.

Another one that not many people think about is Jell-O. It is also a trademark for the product of gelatin or jelly.

How many people do you know that refer to gelatin as Jell-O?
