Apple and Google losing the plot?
In some respects I can understand why Google wants to do this but it is a silly thing to do which can only ostracise many of its fans. As others have mentioned, it's own popularity is to blame for this phenomenon and trying to reverse it now won't do them any PR favours. Google is certainly losing the plot in my eyes. A couple of years ago they were a great search engine and hence why we all started using it. Now all I get from them is mostly irrelevant search results and pages littered with ads, which I would never click. They are making billions per year and it seems as though greed has overcome common sense. Did you know that Google pays the Mozilla foundation a very neat figure to make them the default search engine in FF? Check out www.scroogle.com for more interesting facts.

But, what Apple is doing is much worse. Apple has decided to threaten people who dare to use the word "Pod" in their product names. How they are getting away with this is beyond me. "Pod" is an English word. The word existed a long time before Steve and his merry men came along. Trying to claim they own it is like me inventing an exercise product called "iTrain" and then trying to claim "train" is part of my trademark and charging or suing people who use it. What is even worse is that in the threatening letters they send out they lie about having the word "Pod" patented in the Europe and patent pending in the USA. This is utter nonsense. I don't believe MS would get away with trying to sue anyone who used the noun "windows" or "window" in their product so why should Apple be allowed to get away with this?

I believe these are just the first steps. As I predicted in another post on this site before: in a couple of years time, all of those praising Google and Apple now, will be hating them when another seemingly ?cool?, ?trendy? and ?good? company comes. Seems as though all big business is the same: corrupt and driven by greed.
