The word, google, has been around far longer than the company Google and before the Internet was ever even imagined,,, at least around here.
To google meant to stare or watch or SEARCH intensely. When written the double o's were often decorated as eyeballs !
The term google-eyed was used in the same context as starry-eyed. As kids, "She got all google-eyed when she saw him." etc.
I'm willing to bet that Google is very much aware of this.
Google, I use you all the time, you're the greatest but this is going too far,,, you're taking the wrong direction here.
Drop it...
