- Creepy advertising is a turn-off.
- A long time ago, I think around the dot-com crash, zdnet.com ran a pretty massive ad campaign off its website for those little spy cams which featured women in various states of undress. The use these things were being marketed for was quite clear. Gross. Judging myself a good netizen, I did send a politely worded message explaining that imho maybe they ought to reconsider that kind of sponsorship for a whole bunch of reasons. The ad campaign went on and eventually I just stopped going to zdnet. Obviously I've since come back. If I have to sully my field of vision again -- or for that matter those of my coworkers -- with that kind of stuff no amount of solid tech-related news/opinion content is going to be worth it.
