- The Abramoff Factor keeps IE relevant
-
Firefox is indead the browser of choice for young people in the US. But once they are employed reality bites them. Abramoff is again in the news (Ney) and we need to contastantly remind folks that Abramoff's installation of the culture of corruption at the Federal Governement was financed by the Gates family and represents the pre EU sanctions method of doing business for Microsoft. The Gates law and lobby factor has virtually all government agencies and corporations locked into Internet Explorer.
It is similar to how soft drinks are sold. Control of the fountan is a tool of the monopolist. Sure there can be choice but branded choice. Today many agencies and corporations have "security" policies in place that prevent the installation of a second browser even though such a second browser can be justified as a backup strategy and has no cost. Just as an experiment, try getting your IT department to authorize installation of FireFox. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE the response. Same is true with the Google tool bar.
It is so bad that one can imagine money changing hands at the corporate officer or elected official level.
