The article doesn't say what percentage of the fraudulent clicks that Google passed through.

They obviously have some kind of anti-fraud system already in place, because the expert from NYU said it was "adequate".

The settlement is for the alleged DIFFERENCE between the number of fraud clicks made and the number of fraud clicks that Google blocked.

And please don't stop hating lawyers - I promise you the reason they wanted a settlement in cash, instead of credits, for their clients is so that they could put the squeeze on for a bigger cut than the judge gave them, which was already one third of the pie.

Google basically paid $30M for maybe a dozen lawyers and maybe three dozen staffers to cover their salary and expenses for maybe three months of work, altogether, over the entire length of the procedure. The partners at the firms have netted several million dollars apiece, and the clients have gotten quite a bit of advertising credit at Google.

It IS a good settlement, IMHO, and the greedy, whining lawyers be damned! So what if there will be a dozen less Mercedes sold out of it - most of the extra money would have just lined fat cats' portfolios, anyway.
