How much $$ to the artists - my est= 18%
The entire area of music copyrights is a farce. Most of the old music, especially that of the be-pop and early rock n' roll has been bought up by the "Industry". So - heck of a protection for the artists. in light of this practice as well, the estimate drops to "under ten percent"!

The RIAA and all similar "agents" are a crop of liars; they scream "artists, artists" when in fact the situation is completely parallel with outfits that buy up patents wholesale, then push n' punish innocent companys like the blackberry mfg company that was kudgled into a 1/3 of a BILLION on a really trivial patent that should not have been issued in any event.

Sounds like one of the colleges, getting jambed for $122 million (or such) for facilitating copying! Should have sued the high-schools for teaching their students how to type into a computer!

Sick of it!!!
