Party discipline for corporations?
This is really an MS internal matter and I have no idea whether the legal arguments are correct, but it looks like what is going on is an ideological pressure group trying to force management to recant a public policy position that doesn;t mesh with the Conservative (ie. New Right)/Republican party line (more evidence that political correctness is a Republican affliction too).

It would be proper for MS management to explain the rationale for their stance, but they should hold their ground unless someone can demonstrate to their satisfaction that they're wrong.
