One wicked bullride for the industry.....
See, the industry is caught between a rock and a hard place on this. On one side you have cretins like Turin that get jealous anytime someone beats them to the pounch. On the other side you have billions of people who are devouring the opportunity to be a part of something on the internet, to experiment with creativity. And in the background you have the immaterial backbone, which consists of any company that has ever had anything to do with the creation or growth of the internet. We're not even going to talk about the regulators, who for the time being are stuffed in a closet; which is a good place for them - let's hope they stay there.

For the internet to grow, for it to become more widely adopted; it HAS to see an incredible jump in steady and ongoing long term use. The stock market has lulled lately, I believe that's due to a large number of factors - the internet being just a small part of that breath-holding status the market is now experiencing. There is a LOT of transitioning going on right now. And a LOT of uncertainty.

What it boils down to is you can have the greatest show in the world, but if the audience isn't convinced that it is; then it doesn't really matter because the audience will get disinterested and go do something else.

The reason folks like Turin and NBC are getting bent out of shape whenever something they made makes it's way online is because they feel like they're being left behind by this new medium for, well...it's a long list. There's no doubt about it. The internet has changed the way we live forever. Turins' angry because he KNOWS no one will pay him anything for his tired old footage anymore (because it's old news). So instead of starting something like youtube on his own, he sits on his @$$ and waits then gripes when someone else does. Just my opinion, Turin shouldn't get anything but maybe a punch in the mouth for being stupid.
