this will prove to be real annoying. Why not just provide a link to opt-in to a boatload of spam and phishing attemps? It's like those cards you fill out in the mall to win a free gym membership. You probably won't get it, but they will call to sell you a membership, and then sell their list to the window installer next door. The publicity will tip off the spammers and scammers, and they will be downloading the source code faster than the programmers to see what's on the list.
