This is a good example
Your message digging my message explains and substantiates my position.
You have placed your values and interpretation on what I meant and therefor classed it as off track and I should know better.
From your other posts in this talkback I see a distinct pattern of you believing that politicians really do know something, instead of watching that they only adhere to their immediate advisers and usually do not know anything about the laws that they pass.
The technical side of this world is too vast for politicians to know how it works. Most of them actually have AOL accounts, because they do not know how to use anything else. AND, I am not putting a dig to AOL, those pollitions think that their AOL world is the Internet and they base a lot of their decisions on how their AOL browser works.
Most people posting to these talkbacks are not from an AOL browser world, as most do not know how to get out to the world wide web.
Your criticism of my post is exactly what I mean. You state that I should know better --- based upon what? --- YOUR VALUES??? --- YOUR IMPLIED REASONING???
I am not digging or slamming you, but you do make my point. WHO is going to judge what is Sexually Explicit? The opinion varies, just like WHAT IS ART?
It is an opinion! PERIOD!
When most of the viewers deem it to be pornographic, then it may be pornographic, but then there are others who will disagree and state that it is art.
Is "SOFT PORN" included? Who determines?
What I was trying to make a point, is that it must not be left to opinion, it must be black and white or else the law is bogus and will not accomplish anything but tie up the courts and have the ACLU all over the systems because it is not being applied in a standard manner to all sites, regardless of community ethics or values.
I again state that the money should be in educating the parents and minors how to avoid these sites.
It was not many years ago, that we had the same problem with words. It was deemed obscene to use the four letter F word in public --- things change, now words are almost untouched, although some states still try to pass obscenity laws about the use of them.
