Once more, this has little or NOTHING to do with the content providers, it is about the BUYERS. The advertizers. If they have no incentive to buy the content then the entire social contract comes to a stop.

In truth, NBC, Warner Bros, etc. really don't care what happens to the content itself, what they do care about is their ability to sell the *distribution* in a manner it creates a market with advertizers. If they fail to protect the advertizers investments, then the advertizers will simply walk away. No advertizing dollars means no free "open air" content for anyone.

You sound like a guy a hundred years ago arguing about his "right" to walk around with a gun strapped to his leg. He may have been correct, but the social contract demanded he give that right up. It's just that simple.
