- Are They Serious?
-
I read an article yesterday that said that the U.S. government is compiling a database of all known child pornography pictures and creating a hash for each one so that they can tell if people are passing them on the internet. I have 2 questions. 1.Has anyone outside of the government actually seen any child porn on the Intenet? I have been on it since the beginning and fortunately I have not, unless you count kids in swimsuits, and I think they would have to ban swimming pools to stop that. 2.What happens if some spammer sent an email with one of these as an attachment? I don't open spam emails, but would the government then come for me as someone who has received this garbage? Child porn is illegal everywhere, so except in emails and maybe chat rooms (which I have never been in), I can't see how they can claim this is on the Internet. Is it possible that the only place it exists is in the possession of the U.S. government? Are they simply using it as an excuse to check everything that Americans do online? I know this sounds paranoid, but good grief, these guys make Nixon look like a saint.
As to illegal music on your pc, how can they tell if it was illegally downloaded, or if it is just an old LP that you ripped to mp3?
My Norton AntiVirus DRM keeps screwing up and telling me that I need to register it. Would they turn Norton off permanently?
Perhaps the solution is to require all pc's sold in the U.S. to have a wrist strap that you need to attach in order to turn on the pc. Then, if you do anything that the government decides you shouldn't do that particular day, they can remotely shock you. Keep on doing it, and the pc will explode in your face.
Before you call me a liberal, I am not. I am a moderate Republican. That, however, does not mean that I need to ascribe to the fascist ways of the Bush Administration. God, I thought this was still America. Without our rights, we really are no better than Soviet Russia or Cuba. I want Nixon back! - Posted by: jonnjonnzdnet Posted on: 06/28/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
