Not quite
The whole internet is not an archive, because websites do come, change, and go. How often do you see links on a website that bring you to a version of that site from two years ago when the site was completely different? You don't. You also don't see the sites that have expired and not renewed. Maybe your favorite local band broke up and the site no longer exists. Maybe you need info on something that is no longer manufactured or supported, and the only info you will find is for the new upgraded version or replacement. You can still find all this at the Internet Archive, and that's why it exists. The fact that they also digitize and archive other public domain media is also a huge benefit to everyone that uses the site.
