Does this also cover the U.S.?
The law states "American businesses would be barred from keeping any electronic communication, such as e-mail, that contains personally identifiable information on servers or other storage facilities in Internet-restricting countries." Alberto Gonzales (Bush's Fascist flunky) is attempting to force ISPs to retain data while he is also attempting a crackdown on adult porn (Not that I support adult porn for consenting adults, it is just that this is his first step toward censorship). Wouldn't that make the U.S. an internet-restricting country, and therefore companies in the U.S. would be restricted from saving user information? Eliminating terrorists in the U.S. is commendable, but Gonzales has FISA to help him do that, without his need to see what books and videos I buy from Amazon, or what dopey sites I visit. It seems to me that Democracy should be for everyone, including citizens of the U.S.
