But stupidity in money doesn't automatically bring it to piracy
As a university student, I had my job which paid me enough to support my expensive hobbies ... cars, drums, electronics in general, etc. I had cash to buy CD's and whatnot and I DID buy legitimate CD's.

When Napster and Audiogalaxy hit the scene, it was a whole new ballgame as I was then able to get a listen to the CD's that I was intending to buy. There were many a moment where I would go to my local heavy metal shop and I would want to buy a CD because I heard from someone in IRC that it was really cool, only to find that when I got home, it was absolute crap and I regretted it. There has been a moment where I ordered a CD of OSI from Amazon.com only because one of my favourite drummers, Mike Portnoy, was on it. MAN did that album suck! Sure, I can sell it off 2nd hand at a loss but why should I be the poor bastard that has to suffer the loss over crud? The heavy metal store doesn't play CD's for you unless it's part of the day's selection, Amazon.com doesn't have samples of every album and so we're left with guessing whether it's good or not to us. BUT, with these albums out on the P2P scene, it gives me the complete freedom to try before I buy and dammit, I BUY. I'm not one of the minority, I'm one of the majority who has a legitimate use of such a service.

Keep supporting the MPAA, who think they're above the law. I'm sure they'll remember you when you buy the next crud-on-a-disc that you'll regret. But in the meantime, keep your assumptions to yourself and bring out solid evidence like I told you to. You're the plaintiff here, so the onus of proof is on YOU.
