Violence only works when there is a focused cause.
Get rid of the cause and a person will just kill for the fun/sake/joy if it.

No. There needs to be an impetus. And after that occurs, one doesn't need one byte of a game. The human emotion called "revenge" is more than enough to get entire legions of volunteers to sign up.

The only problem left is that, these days, nobody believes the politicians. And I'm sure people remembered what one of them said, loudly, and on numerous occasions, that there would be no draft while he is president.

And since, if we need to attack anyone else... or even defend our own country at this point, we will need a draft.

But thanks to the offshoring and a war whose origins have been called on for several years now, the people no longer believe in any of it. (the still-dropping enlistment figures are damning proof of this.)

many people do not believe the country is worth defending anymore. And certainly not what's based on altered premises. (dunno what's the truth and what isn't, but from the 2000 election where nation-building was said to be a big no-no, to ousting a nasty guy (no qualms there)... but then after a while the new mantra for Iraq became "liberation" (and subsequently nation-building). Even our population, so thick that they can't count to 10 without having to use both their hands, have noticed.

Now liberation and nation-building are probably good things. We shouldn't have had the, um, flip-flopping. Especially when we're tearing down our own to help others up. The next time I help a man with no leg, I'll be sure to saw mine off, without the anesthetic or antiseptic...

Maybe if those who reap the most from what's going on today enlist will the rest of the people take notice and respond positively.
