I've never signed any agreement with any provider that forced the inclusion of any of my sites in search engines. Just like Google Books, I can "opt out".

---I think if the copyright holder does not want their books, or even parts of it on Google's (or anyone else's) site, that's up to them, not Google.---

That's why Google allows them to opt out.
