Net Neutrality is forced fairness which isn't.
What we have right now is not net neutrality but what is working for now. When the markets change, the business model will have to change also. NN will prevent that. Let's say a service provider only wants to offer email for $5.99 / month. NN will not allow him to taylor his network to do this because NN forces the ISP to treat all packets equal. They will not be able to block all ports except 25 & 110.

What you want is application neutrality which will state that you cannot disfavor packets from the competition only. By the way any service provider that would do this will lose customers and it is illegal already under the Sherman Act.

Nothing is democratic about NN at all. What it does is forces people who use the internet less to subsidize the bandwidth hogs so they don't pay their fair share. As for metered service, you would have customers calling up all the time arguing about their minutes, especially the hijacked zombies. I do not want to pay for that overhead.

Tiered services make more sense because not everyone's needs are the same. One size fits all worked in the beginning but now because of all the different services, they have to be subdivided into catagories. That would be like forcing GM to only make a Malibu. I can see contractors putting plywood on the roof because pickups would be illegal. Government should butt out. Boycotts are more effective.
