This is an excellent analysis. What becomes obvious when this logic is applied is that the TELCOs are corpoate dinosaurs, still lacking anything remotely like a vision or strategy, never mind a business plan, for competing in the 21st century. They will survive by bribing the reverse Robin Hoods in Washington whose lack of vision matches that of their biggest corporate contributors, and who share the "take from the needy and give to the greedy" philosophy.
