1/2 a percent !!! That's insulting...
I am shocked that the judge would even entertain this offer. If the lowest lower fraud rate is 14%, and let's say Google (who I do like) could have prevented 1/2 that or 7%, then if we take that and create a possible settlement based on 2/3 that number or 4.6% making the true settlement amount around 7.9 billion dollars, not including punitive damages and excluding lawyer fees (if my calculations are right, didn't check them).
66% of losses vs 1/2% of losses. Big difference.
I think the lawyers are just using the suit as a bargaining chip to get some money in their own pockets. When a company loses $10,000 and then gets a COUPON for $50, it's an insult.
It's insulting any way you slice it. (and the judge should know this.)

From the article:
"A recent study found that click fraud at the major search engines is about 14 percent. Other estimates--from companies that stand to profit off click-fraud detection-related software and services--have pegged it as high as 30 percent."
