Hi SouthernPride.

Google's ads are actually the least obtrusive of all the search sites. Not only that, but sponsored sites are clearly marked as such. It would be difficult to find a more transparent ad system out there than what Google has put together. And unlike some search engines, they don't accept paid placements. You can read about the technology here:

Google does have its flaws. (I sometimes wonder how sites can be ranked where they are.) But the advertising is one area in which they excel.
